Ryan Vargo, Clearview

Went 6-for-8 at the plate with six RBIs and two doubles during a doubleheader against Rocky River and Brookside. Vargo had an on-base percentage of .714.

Softball

Sarah Kaya, Clearview

Went 2-1 in the circle with 37 strikeouts while allowing just seven hits. She threw back-to-back games of 14 strikeouts in wins over Berea and Barberton. In the Clippers’ season-opener, Kaya surrendered just one hit in a 2-1 win against the Braves.

Boys Track

Jonah Bowden, North Ridgeville

Helped the Rangers edge out Olmsted Falls, 133-118, at the Nelson Howe Invitational. Bowden won in shot put as he threw 46-feet, 9-inches — more than five feet better than any other person in the event. He also came in second in the discus and 4x100 meter relay events. Bowden threw 129-6 in the discus and the relay team ran a 47.23.

Girls Track

Jenna Quillen, Keystone

Finished first in the high jump (5-1), first in the 300 hurdles (48.27) and was part of the 400 relay team that finished second (51.48) at the Nelson Howe Invitational. Keystone finished second overall as a team with 130 points.

Tennis

Nico Mostardi, Avon

Just a freshman, Mostardi posted wins against Lake Ridge, North Ridgeville and Amherst at the top singles flight. Mostardi posted scores of 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0.
