Bay Rockets move on, notch sectional title (Prep Roundup)

WESTLAKE — The Bay Rockets defeated Buckeye, 64-53, in a Division II Westlake District sectional final on Friday night.

Ryan Voiers led the Rockets with 14 points, while Scott Rapps added 12. Craig Linder also added nine, including a 3-pointer, while Sam Strauss chipped in with eight. Ben Chase also connected on a 3-pointer and finished with six points.

Bay (12-12) will now play the Padua-Cleveland Central Catholic winner on Wednesday in the district semifinal.

Oberlin 47, Orrville 43: Jason Moore scored a game-high 23 points and the Phoenix survived a one-point second quarter to beat the Red Riders in a Division III Wooster District sectional final.

DaShaun Horton also scored in double digits with 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Nolan Isom also hit a 3 and finished with five points.

Oberlin (16-7) will play Elyria Catholic in the district semifinal on Monday at 7 p.m.

Elyria Catholic 73, Northwestern 63: The Panthers are moving on, winning their D-III Wooster District sectional final over the Huskies.

Norwalk 74, Marion Harding 52: The Truckers remained undefeated, improving to 24-0 with their win over the Presidents in a Division I Bowling Green District sectional final.

Perkins 43, Bellevue 39: The Pirates came away with a four-point win over the Redmen in a Division II Bowling Green District sectional final, improving to 19-5.

Western Reserve 67, Millbury Lake 55: The Roughriders improved to 18-5 with their 12-point win over the Flyers in a Division III Willard District sectional final.

VASJ 113, Open Door 42: The Vikings were too much for the Patriots, scoring over 100 points in their win in a Division IV Garfield Heights District sectional final.
